Stamping 411 Challenge 165

This is my card for this week's Stamping 411 challenge.  I decided to make a masculine card.  I used the crimper and a texture folder with the big shot to create tons of texture.

The colors are night quite navy, soft suede, very vanilla, and crumb cake.

Explosion Box with Greenhouse Gala Designer Paper

I have made an explosion box before, but never one with this many layers before.  An explosion box is basically, a scrapbook page that folds up into a box.  Take off the lid and the page "explodes" out into a 12 x 12 page.

A few of the accessories on this may be  retired, but they weren't when I started making this box.  It's not that it takes that long to make, I just kept putting it aside and then coming back to it later.  I really like it, and I love the Greenhouse Gala designer paper that I used.  It has such rich, full colors.

Love Letter Designer Paper

Isn't this paper gorgeous?  It's called Love Letter and it is one of Stampin' Up!'s designer paper packs.

The picture really does not do it justice.  The colors are very vanilla, basic black and riding hood red.

I am having a workshop tonight featuring this paper.  It is an all hands-on workshop.  Meaning, instead of me demonstrating some projects and the guests making one, the guests will make all three projects.  We are making a complete gift ensemble and I hope to have pictures of everything for you tomorrow.

Stamping 411- Gobs of Glimmer

If there is one thing this card has it is gobs of glimmer.  A little smooch spritz goes a long way.

It is a little hard to see in the picture but, there are three rhinestones in the upper left corner.  I think I am in love with them and will be using them a lot.

Smooch Spritz Resist

This picture of the below card really does not do it justice.  In person, it is shiny and glimmery with lots of texture.  The top note die shape is cut from the designer paper, Presto Patterns.  It is white but when you brush, roll, or spray color on it, a pattern appears.  To make the pattern appear on this piece I used the Smooch Spritz Resist technique.  You can find the tutorial for this technique here on Splitcoast Stampers.  Lydia Fiedler did an excellent job creating the tute!

I used old olive ink and satin ribbon, night of navy cardstock, vintage wallpaper impressions folder, and the stamp set Tiny Tags on this card.  Oh and I used Gold Glow Smooch Spritz.

Extremely Clean and Simple Card

I am almost embarrassed to show this card it is so clean and simple, but that is what the challenge at  Pals Paper Arts called for.  Plus the card had to be masculine.  I kept wanting to put glitter on this card, but glitter is not very masculine is it?
I used the sketch at Stamping 411 to create this card.  They just happened to have a clean and simple sketch this week.

Stampin' Up! Demonstrator

My Stampin' Up! Story

     I am going through a program with Stampin' Up! called, Recruit Crew Direct Your Success.  One of the things we are being encouraged to do is tell our Stampin' Up! story so I thought I would share mine here.
     I first became acquainted with SU! about 4 years ago.  I was attending a Women's Conference at Tulsa, when I came across a Stampin' Up! booth.  I was immediately excited about what I found, and that was before I even sat down and made the make-n-take.  I loooved making the make-n-take.  It was just a simple 3x3 card, but making it was so much fun!!!  She also had retired stamps for sell and clubs to sign up for.  The only problem was I don't live in the Tulsa area.  I live 2 1/2 hours away in another state.  That is a little too far to drive to attend a club, class or workshop.
     So I went home, but I didn't forget.  For two years I didn't forget, partly because I was receiving emails from the demo who had the booth that I visited.  All her emails told about exciting events she was holding, and I was jealous and sad that I couldn't attend.
     Finally, I did a search to see if I could find a local demonstrator, and lo and behold I did.  I left her a message late on a Saturday and she promptly called me the next day after church. AND SHE HAD A CLUB I COULD JOIN! WOOHOO!!  AND SHE WAS ONLY A 30 MINUTE DRIVE AWAY!!  WOOHOO AGAIN!!
     I began attending her once a month club and looooved it.  We made two different cards each month and placed a $15 order. (But really who can only place a $15 order with products as great as SU!'s?)  It wasn't long before I began thinking that I needed to become a demonstrator so I could start my own club in my own town of Mansfield.  I loved the club I was attending, but why not start my own?  So that is what I did.  I became a demonstrator in October of 2008 and have been hosting my own club since December of 2008. 
     I really enjoy being a Stampin' Up! demonstrator.  I love creating and coming up with projects for my group to make each month.  We have a great time laughing and creating.  If you live in the Mansfield, Arkansas area and would like to attend my club or one of my classes please email me at pjmickle@yahoo.com for more info.  I have a Christmas Stamp-A-Stack coming up in early September where we will make a stack of Christmas cards and decorate the envelopes to go with them.
     So that is my SU! story.  I am so happy that I made the decision to become a demonstrator.  I have made a ton of friends that I wouldn't have made otherwise.  I get a lot of help, support, and advice from other demonstrators, and the products are the best you can buy.

Ok, maybe I am not back yet!

Maybe I am not back yet.  In my defense, I have been on vacation out of state for over a week now.  Vacations are supposed to be restful, but being away from my stamping supplies and being unable to create has been very hard on me!  My blog title is Patty Creates after all.  I feel a need to create something no matter how small every day.

Vacation has been nice but I will be glad to get home later today.  Hopefully, I will get something stamped and will be able to share it really soon.

I'm Back

Wow, I have been busy all July. Mostly, I have been busy preparing for stamp club and a crop I at which I was a vendor. Plus between the 4th and a few other activities that were non-stamp related, this month has really flown by and things aren't going to slow down any until at least some time in September!!!!! August looks just as busy as July has been. Oh, well, I can't say I have been bored!
The card below was made in response to the stamping 411 challenge for this week.  I love the sparkly, shimmery summer feel to this card.  Even though the card base is dark, I used plenty of other colors to lighten up the over-all project and give a feel of summer vacation.  That is what is makes me think of anyway.

Two Challenges

I've been a bad blogger lately.  I have barely been updating once a week.  In my defense I have been really busy getting ready for a charity crop at which I will be a vendor.
  I did manage to use two challenges, today, to create the card below. I got my colors from the challenge at Crazy for Challenges.  Their challenge this week is to use the colors red, white, and black.  I used very vanilla instead of white.
I also used the fun recipe challenge at Stamp Challenges which is to use one ribbon, one image, and one patterned paper.

I distressed the edges of the card stock and designer paper to give the card a distressed, vintage feel.  The stamp set is Artistic Etchings.  It has six different images which you can see  here.  It comes in both wood mount and clear mount.

Pals Paper Arts Challenge

The Pals Paper Arts challenge this week is to create a card based on a photo of fireworks exploding in the sky.  My card sample is typical of my usual clean and simple style.  I created texture by crimping the night of navy cardstock layer.  Instead of running it straight through the crimper, I ran it through at an angle.  My stars are punched out of brushed silver cardstock and popped up on pop dots.
