Stamping 411 challenge 136

Here is my entry for this weeks sketch challenge at stamping 411.  I made a very clean and simple card.  I also paired pretty in pink and black together, two of my favorite color combos.  You can find stamping 411 here.  Thanks for stopping by!!

Stamping 411

Stamping 411 is a website that posts a sketch challenge and a color challenge each week.  What I like in particular is that this site is very helpful if you are a beginner.  For the sketch challenges it not only gives you a sketch, but it also gives you one set of possible measurements that you could use.  And sometimes I use those measurements.  I still feel like a beginner often times, and if my brain is not working I know I can always use the measurements provided.
So, here is the simple card I made with this week's sketch.  I didn't use their measurments this time.

I hate how the computer distorts the colors in my projects.  For example, all the pinks in this card are the same, but they don't look like it online. (It's pretty in pink by the way.)  You also can't tell that I put distress stickles on the stamped heart or that I ink all the edges of the card and the white layer.  Oh, well that is what I get for scanning my card in instead of taking a picture.

Hope

Here is a 6x6 page I created for the scripture challenge on Patter's blog.  I used the designer paper, Sending Love from the Occasions Mini Catalog.  Every paper in this collection has a glittery shimmer on one side of it.  This paper is beautiful, and I wish you could tell how pretty it is in by the picture.    The brad in the center of the paper flower is  one of the circle designer brads on page 179 of the IBC.

3x3 Valentine Cards

I think 3x3 cards are the perfect size of card to make for Valentine's especially if you give out quite a few.  I love the 3x3 envelopes.  They are so cute.
The picture shows two cards I have made recently.  I think I cased one or both of the cards from Jill Hilliard.  You know she is my all time favorite person to case.  I learn a lot by doing that.  Anyway,  my stamp club will make one of these Monday.  I just can't decide which one.
I put crystal effects over each letter in the word love.  It makes them look like epoxy stickers.

3-D item

Posted by PicasaThis is the 3-d item my stamp club will be making Monday.  I got the template off of the SU demo site.  I ran the pattern off on  pink paper, stamped it, cut it out, and stamped the other side.  I used liquid glue to fasten the sides together and then tied a ribbon around it.  I recommend using a glue dot or two to keep the ribbon in place.  It wants to slide down because the top of the box is wider than the bottom.
I also cut thin strips of paper to use as filler paper.  Valentine candy would go in on top.
Simple, cute, quick, and easy.  Just like I like it!

3x3 Note Card

This 3x3 notecard is an idea I got from Angie Juda Kennady at Chic N Scratch.  I thought it was a good way to show off the Sending Love Specialty paper at my stamp club Monday night.  I don't have much of the dsp left and this way we can still use it because each card is only 3x3.  You tuck the flap of the 3x3 envelope in and then a make a card to tuck inside.  Cover the front of the envelope (which is really the back) with a piece of the speciality paper, wrap with a ribbon and you are finished.
Easy as can be and it's a different kind of valentine card.

January's 8x8 page

Please ignore the fact that my photo mat is crooked. Other than that I like this page. I first used the jumbo wheel classic stars on the two corners. I wanted to do it up all one side, but I don't have the wheel guide yet and I couldn't get it straight. I punch out the three large stars using the large star punch. I inked the edges of the bermuda bay stars to make them stand out. I cut out 2010 using the big shot and the Go Go Boots Alphabet medium sizzlet dies. I like the colors I chose, bermuda bay and black. I think they look rather sharp together. I had first thought of doing a snowy page for January, but sometimes we have snow in Arkansas, but mostly we don't. Therefore, I went with a page that just celebrates the new year.

Awesome Picture Frame

I just love this picture frame.  I should have posted this a month ago because I used the dsp, Night and Day which was in the Holiday Mini Catalog.  Hopefully, we will see this paper pack again, because I love it!

I started with a $1 wooden frame from Michaels.  I then painted it with an acrylic wash and then covered the front with a piece of the Night and Day paper.  A  friend of mine used a red ribbon she had to make the bow, and she topped it off with a large fancy button.  I hot glued the bow to the frame, and it was finished.
I have some more frames that I am going to experiment with and see what else I can come up with.  I'll let you know how they turn out.  These might be this year's Christmas presents.  Wouldn't that be nice..... to already have my Christmas gifts made for the year?!!!!!!

Gramma and Addie

This picture is so precious to me. It is a picture of my grandmother holding her great-great-grand-daughter, Addie. I love them both so much.
I used the Love You Much stamp set. This is generally thought of as a Valentine stamp set, but I thought it was perfect for this picture because Gramma does love Addie so much, and I love them both. It's not everyday that you can get a 5 generation picture. That is another reason why this picture is so special to me.
Recipe:
cardstock: real red, pretty in pink, and whisper white
ribbon: real red 3/4 polka-dot grosgrain
stamp set: Love You Much and I {Heart} Hearts
punch: heart to heart
markers: real red, old olive
